The Hemis Festival is celebrated in honour of the sage, Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rimpoche. Rimpoches are believed to be reincarnations of Lord Buddha. This festival celebrates his birthday.
The festival takes place in Hemis Gompa, the largest and richest Buddhist monastery in Ladakh. It is recommended to reach the Gompa by dawn, when ceremonies begin and the Thangka of Rimpoche Dadmokarpo is displayed in all its glory to the beat of drums, clash of cymbals and blowing of the long-horns.

Day 1Delhi Arrival

On arrival at Delhi, you will be met and assisted by our representative to the Hotel, check into the Hotel. After relaxation visit A spicy tale – food walk with a twist at Chandni chowk. Overnight stay at Delhi.

Day 2Delhi to Leh

After breakfast at the Hotel, you will be transferred to the Airport to take the flight to Leh. On arrival at Leh, you will be transferred to the Hotel, check in. Afternoon visits Hall of Fame. Overnight stay at Leh.

Day 3 Leh to Hemis Excursion

After breakfast at the Hotel go for an excursion tour to monasteries and visit Hemis Monastery to enjoy the festivities. Later, visit the Thiksey Gompa. Evening back to the Hotel. Overnight stay at Leh.

Day 4Leh to Pangong Lake Excursion

After breakfast at the Hotel, visit goes for an excursion tour to Pangong Lake via Chang La Pass. Evening back to the Hotel. Overnight stay at Leh.

Day 5 Leh to Khardungla Excursion

After breakfast at the Hotel go for an excursion tour to Khardungla Pass and enjoy the scenic beauty. Evening back to the Hotel. Overnight stay at Leh.

Day 6Leh to Delhi

After breakfast at the Hotel, you will be transferred to the Airport to take your flight back to Delhi.
